The British metal gods Judas Priest released their new nineteenth studio album “Invincible Shield”. It is their celebration of 50 years on stage. It is released on March 6, by Sony in Japan. Judas Priest released their first album “Rocka Rolla” in 1974 and they sound since 50 years even more wild. Glen Tipton, who has Parkinson has recorded his parts for the album. He plays with Judas Priest on stage every time he can. Most of the band’s members are more than 70 years old and they don’t slow down the tempo. They have planned a concert tour this spring and this summer.
The album has fourteen songs. The opening with the “dark neurotic memes” of the first single “Panic Attack” filled with extreme vocals and fast guitar riffs leads to the even faster “The Serpent and The King” and the title song “Invincible Shield”. “Devil In Disguise”, “The Gates of Hell” and “Crown of Horns” are typical Judas Priest’s songs in a middle tempo and very melodic lines. The album continues with the speed riffs in “As God is my Witness”, the dark and impressive “Trial By Fire” to the sad “Escape From Reality”, and the rhythmic and more optimistic “Sons of Thunder”. The epic hymns “Giants in the Sky” and “Fight for Your Life” are more melodic. “Vicious Circle” with its fast riffs is followed by the last song which is a ballad – “The Lodger”.
Rob Halford said that he’s proud of everything that Judas Priest did in the years of their career.
“Internally, we all have our own invincible shields.”- said Halford. “We all have this power that doesn’t get released until a specific moment. Externally, we have the battle vests, the leather, the studs, the rings, the whips, the chains, the handcuffs, the bike — it’s all the invincible shield of heavy metal.”
All the songs have now lyrics videos. Here is the official video for the song “Invincible Shield”:
