In an interview for Guitar World, the Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian said that the work on their new album takes more time than expected because they want everything to be perfect. He mentioned that the composing takes longer time also because the musicians have families and engagements and cannot manage the things as they did in the early days of the band. He said that the new album has “rushing riffs and great, hooky choruses.” Officially the drums, bass, and guitar are finished; some of the songs are similar to the 2016’s “Breathing Lightning” sound, and more of them sound like the early thrash Anthrax melodies. The band wanted to release the album before Christmas this year, but now it seems that it will be on the music market in the summer of 2025. They are working in the studio with producer Jay Ruston, with whom they recorded everything since 2011.
Anthrax is preparing a European tour at the end of 2024 (November and December) with Kreator and the special guests Testament.
