Last night, 07.12.2024, at the concert in São Paulo, Brazil, Nicko McBrain, the drummer of the legendary Iron Maiden, performed his last concert with the band. As he announced the same morning, he retired from his career. Nicko played for 42 years with the British heavy metal legends. The drummer has had many health problems in the last few years, and the others had to prepare a special list of songs that he could play on stage. Now the 72-year-old musician will turn his attention to his business ventures and side musical projects with his managers Rod Smallwood and Andy Taylor. He will stay close to Iron Maiden and will create new projects with them. Bruce Dickinson had an emotional farewell speech on the stage in São Paulo. Iron Maiden will replace Nicko McBrain with the British Lion drummer and Steve Harris’ bandmate Simon Dawson for their 2025 Run for Your Lives Tour.
