Metallica’s Foundation Donates $500000 To L.A. Fire Relief Efforts

The fires in the Los Angeles area that have caused catastrophic destruction since January 7 do not stop. Last week, more than 24 people lost their lives, about 100,000 were evacuated, and more than 12,000 buildings were burned. Many people lost their homes. 40,000 acres of land were burned. In the next days is expected that the Santa Ana winds will return and can reach up to 70 MPH over the coming days, creating critical fire conditions.

Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, is granting $500,000 to relief efforts carried out by the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund. They will receive $250000 each.

All Within My Hands was established in 2017 by METALLICA to support people in distress and to engage the Metallica’s fans in philanthropy and volunteerism.

Per press release, MusiCares and the Recording Academy have launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to support music professionals impacted by the crisis, making a combined pledge of $1 million to kick off the efforts. People who have worked in the music industry for more than five years may qualify for immediate assistance, including up to $1,500 in financial aid and $500 in food vouchers.
