The legendary singer Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning, July 22, days after his last performance on stage in Birmingham, England, with the original Black Sabbath members. A statement from his family is published on his social media:

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.

We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.

Ozzy Osbourne, born John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, is an English singer, songwriter, and original vocalist of the metal gotfathers Black Sabbath. He performed with them from 1968 to 1977, and at this time he adopted the nickname “Prince of Darkness”. He released his first solo album, “The Blizzard of Ozz” in 1980, and from then on, he was dedicated to his solo career. He released 13 solo albums. The first seven of them have multi-platinum certifications in the USA. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice – in 2006 as a vocalist of Black Sabbath, and as a solo artist in 2024. He has many other awards.

The great success of “Back To The Beginning”, the concert in Birmingham, was captured by Mercury Studios and will have a theatrical release as a 100-minute long movie in the beginning of 2026. The name of the movie will be “Back To The Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow”.

The historical 9-hour-long concert had over 45 000 visitors and was streamed online worldwide. It was hosted by Jason Momoa, and many stars took a part – Black Sabbath, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Pantera, Slayer, Tool, and supergroups with famous musicians. Ozzy Osbourne sang five songs from his solo career and four songs with Black Sabbath. The concert finished with fireworks and a cake. All the profits were given for charity to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Ozzy will be remebered as one of the most iconic singers of the past and present century. He had plans to record a new music, but they would remain unfinished.
