The singer of the band 3 Doors Down died at the age of 47 on February 7th, 2026. In his last hours Brad Arnold was surrounded by his family. He was a vocalist, a founding member and the original drummer of 3 Doors Down. In May 2025 the singer said in a video message that he was diagnosed with stage IV of a clear cell renal carcinoma – a type of kidney cancer, which had metastasized into his lung.
“As a founding member, vocalist and original drummer of 3 Doors Down, Brad helped redefine mainstream rock music, blending post-grunge accessibility with emotionally direct songwriting and lyrical themes that resonated with everyday listeners. Brad’s songwriting became a cultural touchstone for a generation, producing some of the most enduring hits of the 2000s, including the band’s breakout hit, ‘Kryptonite,’ which he wrote in his math class when he was just 15 years old.
His music reverberated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith, and shared experiences that will live on long after the stages he performed on.“, published the band in their official statement.
“He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.”
His family asked for privacy in this hard moment.
3 Doors Down has six studio albums. “Here Without You” is one of their best songs. You can hear it here:
