Lion’s Share Return With “Baptized In Blood”

Swedish heavy metal veterans Lion’s Share continue the path toward their long-awaited comeback album “Inferno” with the release of “Baptized In Blood” and its accompanying lyric video on March 5.
Taken from “Inferno” — the band’s first full-length studio album in 17 years, set for release March 27 via Metalville — “Baptized In Blood” highlights one of the core pillars of Lion’s Share’s musical identity: the dramatic, powerful heavy metal of the early 1980s. The influence of 1980–1987 runs deep throughout “Inferno“, particularly the spirit of 1981 — the year that saw the release of “Mob Rules” by Black Sabbath and “Diary Of A Madman” by Ozzy Osbourne.

Guitarist Lars Chriss explains:
“Nils Patrik and I were teenagers when those albums came out — born just three weeks apart. That entire era from 1980 to 1987 is simply part of our DNA. Records like Mob Rules and Diary Of A Madman shaped how we hear heavy metal. The darkness, the drama, the melodies, the weight of the riffs — that’s the foundation of how we write. It’s not something we try to recreate consciously. It just comes naturally because it’s the music we grew up loving.”

Rather than serving as a retro exercise, “Baptized In Blood” reflects the organic influence of that era — powerful riff-driven metal, strong melodic hooks, and a sense of theatrical intensity that defines much of “Inferno”. Lyrically, the song explores the disturbed dreams of a troubled mind obsessed with evil, demons, and the ultimate confrontation between Satan and God. The narrative unfolds like a feverish vision — dramatic, vivid, and deeply rooted in classic heavy metal storytelling.

Vocalist Nils Patrik Johansson adds:
“The lyrics describe a mind being consumed by dark visions — demons whispering, evil closing in, and the final battle between heaven and hell playing out internally. It’s very visual and dramatic. That kind of imagery has always been a natural part of the heavy metal we grew up with.”

Formed in Sundsvall, Sweden in 1987, Lion’s Share have built a respected legacy within European heavy metal, touring alongside legends such as MOTÖRHEAD, DIO, SAXON, MANOWAR, U.D.O., ICED EARTH, NEVERMORE and DEE SNIDER.

The recently released video for “Pentagram” has already surpassed 160,000 views on YouTube, further building anticipation for “Inferno”. “Inferno” has also received outstanding early reviews, including a 10/10 rating from UK’s Powerplay Magazine, which described it as “a blazing comeback that will have long-time fans frothing at the mouth.” With “Baptized In Blood,” Lion’s Share reaffirm that their comeback is not about chasing trends — but about staying true to the sound and spirit that shaped them from the very beginning.
