The legendary Swedish band Sabaton has published the new video “Yamato” on March 13th. The song is from their last album “Legends”, which is dedicated to famous historical figures such as Joan of Arc, Julius Caesar, Vlad the Impaler, Hannibal, Napoleon Bonaparte, and others.
“Yamato” is dedicated to a giant Japanese battleship built in secret and launched in 1941 by the Japanese Navy. The ship was one of a kind: the largest, the heaviest, and the most powerful ship ever built in history. It was sent on a suicide mission to defend Okinawa during Operation Ten-Go in 1945 against the superior American forces. The ship sank, and only a few people survived. The song is a tribute to the courage and the sense of duty of the 2750 people in the crew.
