Behemoth Releases Bathory’s Cover “The Return Of Darkness And Evil”

The Polish extreme metal band Behemoth has released a live video for the cover of Bathory’s song “The Return Of Darkness And Evil”. The song is the official anthem of the Polish Mystic Festival 2026. The previous year, the Behemoth’s frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski collaborated with famous Norwegian and Swedish black metal musicians in the project “Blood Fire Death – A Tribute to Quorthon and the Music of Bathory“, dedicated to Bathory and the legendary Swedish musician Quorthon. The project was started in 2024 and included Erik Danielsson from Watain (vocals) as a central figure, Ivar Bjørnson from Enslaved (guitar), Apollyon from Aura Noir (bass, vocals), Blasphemer from Mayhem, and Faust from Emperor (drums). Nergal said for the press that he asked Erik Danielsson, who was singing the song in the project, if he could sing one of the verses, but Danielsson wasn’t about to share the performance. Nergal saw that Danielsson is strongly connected to the song and decided to record his own version.
