One of the most iconic British pop groups of the 90s – East 17 – is coming to Sofia on June 11 at Vidas Art Arena. With millions of albums sold, a string of global hits and the status of one of the most recognizable names on the British pop scene, the group will take the audience back to the golden years of dance-pop, the boy band wave and unforgettable club nights of the 90s and 00s. The event will be held under the sign of the AFTER WORK party concept – a musical escape from the office directly to the dance floor in the early evening hours. Special Bulgarian support will be DJ Dian Solo and DJ Doncho, who with a thematic selection of 90’s and 00’s dance, house and crossover hits will warm up the audience for an evening filled with nostalgia, energy and singalong moments under the open sky.
Formed in 1991 in Walthamstow, London, East 17 quickly became one of the most successful groups of the decade. Unlike the typical “polished” image of many pop formations at the time, East 17 built their own identity – a mix of pop, hip-hop and street attitude that sets them apart from everyone else. It is this combination that turns songs like “House of Love”, “Let It Rain”, “It’s Alright” and “Around The World” into absolute hits on the European charts. Their biggest success came in 1994, when the emotional ballad “Stay Another Day” became the UK’s No. 1 Christmas single and remains one of the most recognizable pop songs of the decade. The song is still a regular on radio stations, holiday playlists and concert stages around the world.
In their career, East 17 have had 18 singles in the UK Top 20 and four albums in the Top 10, and according to the British Phonographic Industry, their sales exceed 1.8 million albums and 3.4 million singles in the UK alone. With their distinctive sound, energetic live performances and inimitable 90’s atmosphere, the group continues to be among the most sought-after names on retro festivals and concert stages in Europe. Today, East 17 continues with Terry Coldwell – the only original member in the current line-up – along with Joe Livermore and Robbie Craig, also known for his work with the UK garage scene and Artful Dodger. The band’s current concerts combine 90s nostalgia with modern stage production and invariably turn into a massive singalong experience.
June 11 at Vidas Art Arena doors will open at 5:00 PM, the start is at 6:00 PM, and the program will end at 9:30 PM – the ideal AFTER WORK format for everyone who wants to have fun after work and still keep their rhythm for the next day. Immediately after that, at 10:00 PM, the same location will also kick off the official opening of the world, to which the organizers invite all guests of the evening to continue the festive atmosphere.Tickets for the event are available on the Ticket Station network at prices from 22 euros.
