American death metal pioneers Possessed will shake the Bulgarian audience on June 9th at Joy Station Club. The band will celebrate 40 years since the release of their cult album “Seven Churches”. It is their first album and one that most of the fans consider a symbolic beginning of death metal music.
Formed in 1982 in the San Francisco area, Possessed are among the main architects of the death metal genre. With their aggressive style and Jeff Becerra’s characteristic growl vocals, the band shaped a sound that forever changed the shape of the heavy music.
After long pauses and reformations, the band returned with the powerful album “Revelations of Oblivion” and today continues to sound just so brutal, uncompromising, and authentic.
After their first visit to Bulgaria in 2023, Possessed has returned by the invitation of Sofia Music Enterprises to celebrate one of the most significant albums in the history of extreme music, “Seven Churches”. The concert on June 9th will be a clash between past and present and will mark important moments in the history of death metal with performances of iconic songs and relentless stage energy.

The Bulgarian thrash/speed metal band Axecutor will warm up the atmosphere before Possessed. Formed in 2010 by musicians, inspired by the thras, speed and black metal music from the 80s, they quickly established themselves on the Bulgarian old-school metal scene with the demo “Speed ​​Metal Assault” and the EP “Aggressive Extermination”, which was also awarded by the Bulgarian edition of Metal Hammer. Over the years the musicians shade stage with names such as Toxic Holocaust, Desaster и Deathhammer. The band has many performances in Bulgaria and Europe. At the end of 2023, the band released their debut album “Violate the Cross” and are currently working on their second studio recording. They will open the concert on June 9th, promising a dark old-school extreme metal sound before the appearance of the legendary Possessed.
