The Finnish metal opera diva Tarja Turunen released the heaviest album in her career on June 12th, 2026, via earMUSIC. “Frisson Noir” is a categorical return to her metal roots and a strong artistic statement of identity, strength and belonging. “Frisson” describes the feeling when a shiver goes through the skin when the music evokes a physical reaction. “Frisson” is the feeling that the sound becomes pure emotion. The entire album is built around this idea – as a kind of bow to the human presence in music, live performance, breathing, imperfections and genuine emotions that turn each song into a real experience. The cinematic atmosphere, symphonic orchestrations and powerful metal sound are intertwined in a way that is distinctive for Tarja’s creative world.
Tarja Turunen plans two special concert dates in Bulgaria in March 2027. On March 14th, the singer will take to the stage of the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, and on March 18th, she will perform a show at the capital’s “Hristo Botev” hall. Together with her band, Tarja will present songs from ‘Frisson Noir’ combined with the most beloved compositions from her rich solo career, as well as iconic songs from her period with Nightwish, which have become an indispensable part of the history of symphonic metal.
In addition to Tarja, the audience will have the opportunity to see two special support bands that will complement the evening’s program. Their names will be announced at a later stage.
The audience in Varna and Sofia can expect a large-scale production, impressive scenography and a concert in which symphonic elegance and heavy metal sound meet one of the most recognizable voices in contemporary rock music.
