Samael records a new album

The famous Swiss metal band Samael is recording a new studio album. Drop RMX has published that the recording of the instrumental part is almost finished. The band announced that Xy is recording the keyboards and a massive orchestral section.

Samael began their career with “Worship Him” (1991), “Blood Ritual” (1992), and “Ceremony of Opposites” (1994) as a black metal band. Ever since the very first album, their own music style is strongly specific and recognizable. After the first three albums, in 1996, the band recorded the iconic “Passage” album, which is orchestral and melodic, and it led them to a new musical direction. It is one masterpiece in the world of metal and in the Samael’s career. “Passage” was recorded as a 17-song album, but it appeared in the shops as an 11-song edition. The rest of the songs are in the “Exodus” EP. It is followed by “Eternal” (1998), “Reign of Light” (2004), and “Era One” (2006, an electronic album) which are more and more melodic. “Era One” includes a bonus album “Lesson in Magic #1”, made by Xy, which is entirely instrumental. Their “Solar Soul” (2007) has a dark electro-industrial atmosphere. The band made the subsequent “Above” (2009) album as a side death metal project with a virtual band of musicians, called “Above”, but later they released it as Samael’s album. It returns the band’s sound to their roots. “Lux Mundi” (2011) showcases the band’s black metal sound of “Ceremony of Opposites”, combined with a little of their modern industrial notes and rhythms. “Hegemony” (2017) is written for the 30th anniversary of Samael, and it has melodic sound and political themes. It has got rich, melodic guitar riffs, the band’s characteristic rhythms, and the remarkable vocals of Vorph. The song “Samael” represents the meaning of the band’s name.

In 2024, Samael released their masterpiece “Passage” as a re-recorded live album from one of their concerts in Krakow, Poland, during their “Passage 25th Anniversary Tour”. It has a magnetic cold and wild sound.

Now, after their great world tour, the four members of Samael are in the studio to create another piece of gold in their discography.
