Cavalera Back In Sofia with their “Chaos A.D. MMXXV” Tour

The legendary brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera will be back in Sofia this year for more of the good old Sepultura live at the Maimunarnika club. Thanks to the good partnership between Blue Hills and the Cavalera family, Bulgaria will become part of another historic series of concerts, where Max and Iggor will revive the old classics of their titular band Sepultura. They will perform the iconic Chaos A.D..

The album has gold status in the US and Europe. When Sepultura’s fifth album, Chaos A.D. (Roadrunner), was released in 1993, critics considered it unique. It introduced a groove to their sound and slowed down the tempo compared to their previous thrash material, but it was still heavy, raw and direct. In its lyrics, Max poured out furious criticism against the injustice in their native Brazil, touching on political topics such as colonialism and police violence, in which a large part of fans from different countries of the world managed to recognize themselves both then – when it was released in the 90s, and today.

The album brings a stylistic evolution; it is a springboard for the band to even wider recognition and strengthens the feeling of connection of Sepultura’s followers to it. And this despite, or perhaps precisely because of, the courage of the Brazilians to break the thrash metal treatises and introduce groove and tribal elements into their music, ready for criticism or rather – without caring about it, following only themselves and their inner attitude.

Thus they released an album that “stirred the spirits” at the time and is still just as influential today… Chaos A.D. is undoubtedly a significant release for the global metal scene in general, which we will be able to hear live this summer.

We have the unique chance, 30+ years later, to hear and recite in one voice all these songs like the album opener “Refuse/Resist”, which comes in after the sound of the heartbeat of one of Max’s sons – Zyon, recorded while he was in the womb of his mother Gloria Cavalera…; the total universal hit “Territory”; the crushing “Propaganda”; also “Slave New World”, “Nomad”; “We Who Are Not as Others”… etc.

Which band will join the show as support, you will find out.

Cavalera will play on Monday, July 13, at 7:30 PM at Maimunarnika. Tickets are on sale on the Eventim.bg network.
