The legendary actor and twice Oscar winner Sir Anthony Hopkins will release his first album with his own music at the age of 88. He has signed a contract with Decca Classics and on August 21st they will release the album “Life Is a Dream”. It contains twelve of his own orchestral compositions, written in more than six decades. They were recorded in April at Alexandra Palace, London, with the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. In the project took part the pianist Sergio Tiempo, the violoncellist Gregorio Nieto, The Bach Choir and The Winchester Cathedral Boy Choristers.

One dream of Anthony Hopkins was to be a musician and he has composed works all his life. He said: “Music was my first desire, my first wish,” says Hopkins. “I’ve been composing music all my life. Some of these pieces have lived with me for decades and I still find myself returning to them.” He has started playing the piano at the age of four and later composed music for local theatrical performances. Later he had a collaboration with André Rieu, who recorded Hopkins’ waltz “And the Waltz Goes On”. The waltz is included in the album “Life Is a Dream”. Other released work from it is “Bracken Road”, composed in 1963.
