Oratnitsa return with new album and concert at Vidas Art Arena in Sofia. The ethno-formation presents “Stopan” live for the first time on September 12.

After nearly eight years of hiatus, Oratnitsa return to the stage with an even more exciting story to tell – a new album, a renewed lineup and a concert on September 12 this year on the small stage of Vidas Art Arena. With their captivating mix of folklore motifs, familiar to generations of Bulgarians, combined with modern elements of dubstep, hip-hop, drum and base motifs, Oratnitsa bring the charge of the past and the pulse of the future in their music. On September 12 at Vidas Art Arena, the band will play “Stopan” live for the first time, before the official premiere of the album.
Formed in 2009, Oratnitsa experiment with well-known Bulgarian folklore motifs and vocals through the prism of the modern world by combining them with electronic elements. Just a year later, the band won the Sofia Fusion Rally award for interpretation of Bulgarian folklore music, with the song “Lele, svashkе”. This moment was key for the future of the ethno-formation and brought them a contract with a music label, they toured the country at various music festivals such as Spirit of Burgas, Beglika Free Fest, Ayljak Fest, etc. In 2012, they released their debut album “Oratnitsa” , the success of which pushed them to the international scene in Norway, Germany, Malaysia, Russia and others.
In 2018, Oratnitsa released their latest album “Alter Ethno”, through which they experimented with more styles such as afrobeat, jazz and heavier ambient music. This year, their return brings with it “Stopan”, which is the band’s most mature album to date – deeper, bolder and multi-layered. In September, Oratnitsa will present it live for the first time, but in addition to the new work, the audience will hear the familiar and beloved songs from their repertoire.
The band is making a big comeback this fall, on September 12th at Vidas Art Arena.
