Behemoth Unleashes “I, Scvlptor” Album

On September 4th the Polish extreme metal band Behemoth released the new album “I, Scvlptor” online via Nuclear Blast Records and physically via Massacre Records.

Adam Nergal Darski has published several words about each song on the official Behemoth website. The album starts with the title song, which has an enigmatic intro, and after it spills all the demonic rage and fierceness of the existence upon the ears of the listeners. The following “Lords of the Horizons” is more melodic and has a dark, melancholic chorus. The song ends with a dramaticism, accompanied by technical solos. “Rise of the Black Storm of Evil” is a song that was included in the demo from 1992. It is written as a nod to Samael, Celtic Frost and Hellhammer, according to Nergal. In its rhythm can be found a similarity to the compositions of Samael. “In Thy Pandemateternum” was at first recorded for the full-length album “Pandemonic Incantations” (1998). It is a very furious song with chaotic melodies and pouring drums. The two songs are remastered and re-recorded with the Behemoth’s 2026 sound. “Begotten” was written around the “Shit ov God” album, but it wasn’t included in it because it didn’t fit the whole conception. It is a melancholic song with thoughts about existence.

“In League with Satan” features the vocalist of the Swedish black metal band Dimmu Borgir, Shagrath (a.k.a. Stian Thoresen). The Venom classic is interpreted as a rock-like song with the heavy extreme sound of Behemoth and the monstrous mixture of the black metal screams of Shagrath and the voice of Nergal. It has seven-string guitars, an epic chorus, and a moshpit-like, almost dance-like atmosphere. Yesterday Behemoth released the video for the song. It is a creation of the acclaimed Polish production collective Gruppa 13. Nergal and Shagrath are the main figures in the video, whose conception is dark and horrifying in a horror movie style.

“The Return of Darkness and Evil” is a live performance from Athens. The guest vocalist is Sakis Tolis from Rotting Christ. The musicians make a wonderful smashing cover of the famous Bathory song.

“Lord ov the Horizons” (Studio Rough Mix) is the last song in this perfect album. The chorus at its beginning reminds of the Tiamat songs. The song version is before the final mix. It is a rough studio record with authentic sound and wild emotions.
